The Big Lebowski. The gun that Walter pulls in the bowling alley is a Colt model 1911 .45 caliber semi automatic handgun. Standard U.S. military side arm during the Vietnam War. -

Mad Max: Fury Road. The flame-shooting guitarist is Australian artist/musician Sean Hape, better known as Iota. In an interview on Vice (2013), he said the guitar weighed 132 pounds, and shot real gas-powered flames, which he controlled using the whammy bar. -

Goodfellas. Ray Liotta’s mother died of cancer during filming. Liotta says that he used his anger over losing his mother for certain scenes, the pistol-whipping scene in particular. -

Forrest Gump. When Forrest gets up to talk at the Vietnam rally in Washington, the microphone plug is pulled and you cannot hear him. According to Tom Hanks, he says, “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.” -

The Passion of the Christ. Jim Caviezel experienced a shoulder separation when the 150lb cross dropped on his shoulder. The scene is still in the movie. -

A Fistful of Dollars. Clint Eastwood’s trademark squint was caused by the combination of the sun and high-wattage arc lamps on the set. -

Napoleon Dynamite. For Napoleon’s dance routine, director Jared Hess had Jon Heder improvise and dance to three different songs. Hess then took the “best” moves from each song and put them in one routine, using one song. -

The Perfect Storm. None of the fish in the movie were real, they were all either rubber (dead fish) or animatronic (alive fish). The director, Wolfgang Petersen, is an animal rights supporter. -

Dallas Buyers Club. Matthew McConaughey lost 47 pounds for his role as an AIDS patient. Newspapers said he was “terribly gaunt” and “wasting away to skin and bones.” Jared Leto lost 30 pounds for his role. -

The One. The scenes involving Jet Li fighting himself were shot using Li and a stuntman with a build similar to his. The stuntman’s face was painted green so that it could be digitally replaced with Li’s face later. -

The Shining. For the scene in which Jack breaks down the bathroom door, the props department built a door that could be easily broken. However, Jack Nicholson had worked as a volunteer fire marshal and tore it apart far too easily. The props department were then forced to build a stronger door. -

Cool Runnings. The crash scene at the end of the movie, except for the close-up shots, was the real footage of the actual Jamaican bobsled team crash taken from the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. -

A.I. Artificial Intelligence. The movie was originally to be titled A.I., but after a survey it was revealed that too many people thought it was A1. The title was changed to A.I. Artificial Intelligence to prevent people from thinking it was about steak sauce. -

The Hangover. No effects or prosthetics were created for Stu’s missing tooth. Actor Ed Helms never had an adult incisor grow, and his fake incisor was taken out for the parts of filming where Stu’s tooth is missing. -

Happy Gilmore. Bob Barker wasn’t sure if he wanted to be in the movie. When he learned that he was going to win the fight with Adam Sandler, he accepted the role. -
16.
Jurassic Park III. The effects crew used 250 gallons of oatmeal to simulate Spinosaur droppings. -
17.
Home Alone. The picture Kevin finds of Buzz’s girlfriend was a picture of a boy made up to look like a girl because Chris Columbus thought it would be too cruel to make fun of a girl like that. The boy that was used in the photo was the art director’s son. -
18.
Godzilla. Despite being the title character, Godzilla appears in the film after nearly 1 hour, and is only in the film for 8 minutes. -
19.
Hook. The pirate shut in the chest with the scorpion was played by Glenn Close.
